MILDRED AKINYI OPONDO

Mildred Akinyi Opondo is a legal advisor and activist for Women and girls. Her purpose in life is to ensure that both women and girls are not legally deprived. She provides legal education, advice and engineering the adoption of laws and any by laws that favor both women and girls through different platforms like organizations, government policy makers and various independent individuals working for the same course. 

Mildred is also an Educator, who advocates for adult education to help those adults that didn’t get a chance to learn when they were young to know how to read and write. This has seen very many adults going back to school at their own convenience. She is also passionate about girl children and their menstrual health. As a result of this, she is a board member of two girls schools with each having a population of over 600 students.  

Her work is to ensure that none of the girls misses school because of menstruation. Through her efforts, well wishers, teachers and many stakeholders have managed to ensure absenteeism because the menstruation is reduced to less than 2% . 

Mildred is also a humanitarian and philanthropist. She has several needy but very bright students in school courtesy of her generosity. She ensures their school needs are well taken care of. This ensures those under her care are in school throughout the year.  

Mildred Akinyi Opondo also offers pro-bono services to people who cannot afford legal representation in court. Whilst also ensuring that adults with passion for knowing how to read and write get a chance to make good use of themselves and become better. And to ensure Poverty is kicked out in Kenya, she provides quality education to vulnerable students, thereby giving them a chance to join universities and take back the knowledge and skills to their people.
